You've been asking for them and now here they are!  Mark Summers and John Baur have done almost as much for pirates in popular culture in recent years as Johnny Depp has.  And they kind of did it my accident and the behest of others.

Talk Like A Pirate Day happens every September 19th.  In this interview I dig in with John and Mark on how the holiday started to happen and what they did to make it go as viral as it has.  (Clue: As little as possible)

Plus we get into the TLAPD extended universe of sorts and what they're working on now.

Today's show is sponsored by:
Naufragant - Get their new single, "The Black Corsair" from the upcoming album based on the classic pirate novel.

Plus comedy from Nick Hoffman and a song called "Black and White" by Demon In Me.

Jeff Dixon and his family at Dixon woodworking make some of the most badass pirate ship playhouses you're ever going to see. You don't even need to have kids because they're built for adults too.

The story of how the company came together is very touching.  And Jeff takes me through their whole process of building and delivering the ships.  Plus some great stories of news anchors falling on their asses.  (Yep, really.)

Plus comedy from Rudy Ortiz about how not to say 'I do' and a song called "Windows Bleed" by Chilindrina.

Brad Perri is a comic artist and creator of "Pirate Mike: Maladjusted Suburbanite".  It's a really funny little comic strip.  We dive into lots of stuff about character development in comics and the current state of that industry.  And plenty of pirate talk as we dissect how Pirate Mike reflects the pirates of olde while he tries to get along in the suburbs.

Plus comedy from Saul Trujillo and a song called "Starving for Attention" by Peter Turns Pirate.

Jason Surrell is a theme park show designer - former Imagineer, now with Universal - and the author of "Pirates of the Caribbean: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies".

He was deeply involved with adding the new film characters to the classic Pirates of the Caribbean theme park rides and we talk about how they did that to avoid alienating the hardcore classic fans.

We also get into what working with Johnny Depp on the set is really like, what X Atencio told him that made him nearly drive off the road, and how he got into trouble with Marty Sklar after writing the book.  Tons of fun stories in here.

Plus comedy from DJ Sandhu about being guys at the club and a song called "Spanish Lady" by Pride of Bedlam.

I like pirate music, but I don't know nearly as much about it as Jack Gonzo does.  He does a great pirate music radio show every Wednesday at 9pm Central called Scoundrel's Inn.

During our talk, we dive a little into how Jack go started in this space.  And we talk a lot about how varied pirate music can really be.  He also suggests a great starter pack of bands if you're unfamiliar with the genre.

And you'll find out the one-genre of music that hasn't been touched by pirates yet.  (Which I may take care of soon...)

Plus comedy from Shawn Halpin about his favorite radio stations and a song called "Share My Pixie Dust" by Phil Johnson and Roadside Attraction.

Yeah, I don't usually play my own stuff like that, but I wasn't able to spend as much time as usual harassing bands for a track this week. :)
