Dane Bennett ake Admiral Basi Drake is the lead singer for Pride of Bedlam, this year's International Pirate Awards winners for Favorite Band.
In this great talk we dig into how Dane discovered Ren Faires and the pirate scene after his divorce (and eventually met his current wife), how POB designs their music to stand out in the pirate folk genre, playing a character on stage and dealing with regular folks on stage.
Lots of good "inside the brain of performing artists" in this one. And Dane tells us why he thinks pirates have stuck around longer than other characters.
Plus comedy from the Samantha Hale and a great song from Pride of Bedlam called "South Austrailia".

Our first live episode! We invade the Story Tavern in Burbank, CA to celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day 2016!
Chris Roberts is the owner of Pirate Art Design in Los Angeles, CA. They do set design for loads of cool Hollywood Stuff. And Chris was nice enough to host us at this TLAPD event in Burbank.
Scott Rogers is a former Disney Imagineer, game designer, and author. He's got some great stories about the back end workings of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland.
Carlos Ragas is the lead actor of Pirates Dinner Adventure in Anaheim and a graduate of the Ringling Bros clown university.
These dudes are all major pirate fans who have let their love of the buccaneer guide their careers over the years.
Thanks to Ryan and Jon for coming out to hang with us. And to the other people in attendance who didn't know there was going to be a live podcast, but played along anyway. :)
Plus comedy from the Jay P. Brown and the International Pirate Award winning song "Hangman's Jig" by Cap'n Tor and the Naer Do Wells Pirate Invasion.

Scott Pooler is a (Captain?) jack of all trades. Originally a merchant marine and sea captain before being forced back to land by a horrific accident (that we talk about), he's now a photographer and web developer for the Tampa, FL area pirate scene.
Scott is in deep with the Gasparilla festival and its various crewes and the the owner of PirateDirectory.com , a great resource site for pirates of all sorts.
Not to mention, Scott's just quite a character and we had a great talk. Lots of laughs in this one. :)
Plus comedy from the Terry Bu and a great song from Youngest Of Elders called "Shame Spiral".

Matt Aurthur is the host of Pirate History Podcast, and much like Craig Buddy back in ep. 22, is doing a great job telling the historical stories of the pirates before, during, and after the Golden Age.
We'll get into Matt's motivations for starting the show, how his background in acting has helped, and some stumbles along the way.
Plus comedy from the Ibo Brewer and a great song from Ulrich Ellison called "Rescue Me".
Pick up some more music from Ulrich Ellison below and help support UTC at the same time. :)
