Captain Teach of Phoenix Risen Pirate Clan
For extended show notes and more pirate goodies, visit www.UnderTheCrossbones.com

My guest on the show today is Captain Teach, head of the Phoenix Risen pirate clan.  I had no idea what pirate clans are all about, shy they exist, and what they do.  So this was educational for me and I hope for you too.

Teach gives us the lowdown on how he got into Phoenix Risen and how you can join the pirate clan you're looking at.  And we'll talk about how and why pirates have infiltrated the Ren Faire circuit.  Plus we'll dig into all the great projects he's heading up for the Sherwood Forest Faire, including summer camps for adults and kids.

Thank you for all your nice supportive notes about last week's missing episode.  We had a death in the family and I'll tell you about it at the top of the show.

Plus comedy from Melissa Richelle and a song called "White Car" from Doug and the Carnival of Souls Revue.

For extended show notes and more pirate goodies, visit www.UnderTheCrossbones.com

Mark Hanna is a professor at UC San Diego and the author of "Pirate Nests and the Rise of the British Empire 1570-1740".  Yep, we're getting historical today.

We'll talk about how pirates needed allies on land to allow them to plunder as they did and how the big commercial companies tried to keep it from happening. Plus Puritans illegally minting coins?  Militant Protestantism?

Fascinating stuff in this talk.  You'll love it!

Plus comedy from Shane Morrison and a song called "Just One More Time" from Flash Crash and Thunder.

Nick Hoffman is a buddy of mine from the comedy world.  Until recently we didn't know we were both pirate fans.  Nick's been deep in it for quite awhile having thrown a big pirate wedding and curated a pirate installation at the Petaluma History Museum.  And we'll dig deep into both of those.

Plus some post-Mother's Day comedy from Stu McCallister and a very funny song called "Photo Album" from Jacob Haller.
